Point Jerseys began as a hobby farm aiming to provide our family with fresh-to-drink milk from a breed of cattle known for boasting a high butter fat and protein content in their milk. We loved our animals as gentle pets – and loved their milk as well.
We want to give that experience to the community of both aspiring cattle owners and pre-established operations. Our cattle have the ability to help other people, and we will happily breed, raise, and sell these beautiful animals to enable them to further their own hobby farms, just like us, or even to enrich existing outfits.
Jersey cattle have a unique form and properties that we believe are perfectly suited for developing dairy herds. Their milk components, grace, and excellent fertility make them a great choice for many applications.
Not only are Jerseys fit for dairy operations, but they can also be an intelligent choice for beef producers. Why? Although beef calves’ size is often viewed as the most important factor in a profitable business, larger animals require more supplemental feed as well as more grazed nutrition. This can very well offset the additional return-per-pound of a heavier, full beef breed.
Jersey cattle have generally smaller offspring than many other breeds, resulting in easier birthing and less energy-demanding calves. A Jersey crossed with a beef breed can provide a wonderful blend of beef characteristics and lower maintenance animal that has more efficient nutrient absorption.
At Point Jerseys, quality animals are achieved on both the dairy and beef fronts, stock are rotationally grazed on green pastures, and we reap the rewards of a magnificent breed of cattle.
